about the artist

   Profile

Linda Frueh studied Jewelry and Metal Arts at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco in the late 1990s. She initially majored in glass,
learning to cast, blow and cold-work large sculptural pieces. Finding the arm’s length nature of glass frustrating, she began to work in precious
metals and was captivated by their immediacy and versatility.

She began to explore enameling as a way to bring the qualities of glass to her metal pieces. She has studied different techniques of the medium –
cloisonné, limoges, grisaille and torch firing, in order to understand its range and variability. It has become an important element of her work, with
particular emphasis on cloisonné and limoges techniques.

Linda continued her studies at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco. Her training also includes studio work with award-winning
goldsmiths and enamellists, including Jamie Bennett, Andy Cooperman, Debra Lozier and Harold O’Connor.

In 2005 Linda entered her first competitions and expanded from commissioned work to retail distribution. Her current focus is on jewelry, with
functional and ceremonial objects done on a commissioned basis. She works exclusively in one-of-a-kind and limited edition series.
